The Foundation launched a capital fundraising campaign in June 2007 to raise $5M from both corporate and individual contributors. Initial funds are being used to broaden student awareness of the rewards and opportunities of careers in produce. Student programs will include internships, co-ops, job shadowing, career ambassador program, career bank, career resource center, event scholarships and more. Talent development initiatives center around a comprehensive leadership training program while retention-based endeavors include a wide-ranging collection of HR best practices and an employment awards program.
The next fundraising phase will include an annual campaign set to begin in October 2009, event sponsorships, scholarship programs and more. As we move forward, there will be more non-traditional opportunities for foundation support such as volunteerism, knowledge and non-monetary gifts.
