Frontera Produce

  • 25 yrs experience in food / produce industry
  • Professional Positions:
    • Buyer/Marketing Manager
    • Key Account Manager
    • Director of Sales
    • VP of Sales
  • Reason for entering the industry:
    • A part–time job in high school parlayed into a life-long career

As many teenagers do, Ken Nabal got a part–time job as a teenager with a local grocery store. Little did he know that working as a cashier would one day lead to a life-long career in produce.

Spending an impressive 17 years with Albertson′s, Ken gained experience in many different areas of the retail / food business – from cashier, to department manager to store manager and lastly to corporate buyer. After his long retail tenure with Albertson′s, Ken made the move to sales where he spent two years with Central American Produce as a Key Account Manager.

With two years of sales behind him, Magellan Farms was Ken′s next step in the industry. Magellan Farms was a start up company at the time and Ken was the Director of Sales for a year. He then put his management and sales experience to use at Southern Specialties, becoming the Director of Sales and managing a team of nine salespeople.

For the past three years Ken has been the VP of Sales at Frontera Produce. In addition to managing sales offices in Texas, Arkansas and Florida, he deals primarily with the sales and logistics for the company′s expansive import program.

"I learn something new everyday. I enjoy the exciting, fast–paced nature of the business where I am constantly being challenged to come up with new business solutions that benefit both my company and my customer base."
