Megan Shanley – Category Development Specialist

Driscoll's
  • 1.5 years experience in fresh produce
  • Graduated Cornell University
    • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Economics and Management
  • Reason for entering the industry:
    • After studying Food Industry Management at Cornell University and Agriculture Business at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she knew she wanted to combine her passion for agriculture with her new interest in grocery retail.

Megan was raised in an agricultural community in California and understands the important role that California plays in feeding the world. Because of these childhood influences and her college studies, Megan wanted to be a part of the fresh produce industry. After graduating from Cornell University, Megan took a position as a Retail Sales Coordinator at Driscoll's. She worked in conjunction with two sales representatives for their east coast accounts to increase sales, promote business, and expand their markets. She supported the sales representatives by processing sales orders, responding to customer inquiries, assisting with sales promotions, and verifying shipments and deliveries.

After a year, Megan moved to a Category Development Specialist position. In this position, she supports the Category Development Team by gathering, processing, analyzing, and preparing data and information to support the planning process. Also, she coordinates events related to each account strategy.

"I was born and raised in California in an agricultural community. I am passionate about the fact that California plays such a large role in feeding our country and our world and I wanted a piece of it. In addition, the people who make up this industry are some of the most genuine and sincere people I have ever met. They know how to work hard and play even harder, and that was something I couldn't pass up!"
