An Essential Opportunity for Tomorrow's Produce Leaders
The Fresh Summit Career Fair, hosted by the PMA Foundation for Industry Talent and sponsored this year by Stemilt Growers to posthumously honor respected industry veteran Tom Mathison, provided an exciting opportunity for bright, young talent to visit with leading produce companies at our Saturday event and also submit their resumes for an opportunity to interview in our limited interview slots.
We expanded our 2009 invitation list to include Pack Scholarship Recipients and Pack Alumni from eleven agriculture and food marketing programs from around the globe, students from four local universities (UC- Riverside; Cal-Poly Pomona; Chapman University and Fresno State), and students attending Fresh Summit on their own. Sixty students participated, including 44 Pack Career Pathways scholars and 16 additional students. Thirteen participating companies personally interviewed as many as 10 students each.

Reflecting on the experience, students commented that "the networking and information gathering was incredibly valuable and interesting" and felt the fair provided "great industry overviews and energy."
