PMA foundation hosting inaugural 5K race Oct. 2 at the 2009 Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition
Newark, Del. –The PMA Foundation for Industry Talent (PMA FIT) will host its first annual Live FIT 5-kilometer race Oct. 2 at the Anaheim Marriot Hotel, Anaheim, California, USA. Proceeds from the race will fund PMA FIT programs to attract, develop and retain talent for the fresh produce value chain.
The race – for runners and walkers alike – is being held in conjunction with PMA's 2009 Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition, Oct. 2-5.
Warm-ups will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the hotel's valet parking lot, across the street from the Anaheim Convention Center. The race will kick off at 7 a.m. sharp, and runners will enjoy a double loop course around the Anaheim Convention Center on the outskirts of the world-famous Disneyland property. An awards ceremony will follow promptly at 7:40 a.m. Participants will have ample time to make it to PMA FIT's Fresh Perspective: Women's Leadership Event that begins at 10:00 a.m. Medals will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as to the top two male and female finishers in each age group.
"This is an exciting new event for the foundation. We hope that Fresh Summit attendees and exhibitors will embrace this event as a great way to support the future of our industry while also committing to live fit," said Bill Schuler, chair of the PMA FIT Board of Directors.
Runners and walkers can register online for the Live FIT 5K at http://pmafit.com/support/events_liveFit.aspx. A discounted online registration fee of $25 is available until Aug. 30, and will then increase to $30 until online pre-registration ends Sept. 29. Race participants can also register on-site Thursday and Friday, Oct. 1 and 2 in Hall E at the Convention Center; the on-site registration fee is $35.
