PMA foundation expands online tools to help industry attract, retain and develop talent

Newark, Del. – Recognizing that attracting, developing and retaining talent becomes even more important in a difficult economy, PMA Foundation for Industry Talent (PMA FIT) has expanded the online tools it offers to industry, including its Web site and international job bank.

The foundation's Web site – located at www.pmafit.com – now features updated content and design, as well as easier navigation. For industry, the site offers expanded tools to help attract, develop and retain talent, while showcasing opportunities for industry members to become involved in foundation efforts and recognizing the support of the foundation's contributors. In addition, the Web site highlights events offered by PMA FIT's new Leadership Institute to aid in professional development. For students, the site serves as a portal to industry career opportunities, and provides multiple tools to aid them in learning about and engaging with the industry.

The industry's go-to source for internships, part-time and full-time job placement. PMA FIT's newly-improved job bank – www.producejobsource.com – is now more user-friendly and offers increased support services for any number of user needs. Companies who want to stand out amongst the crowd can now take advantage of new "Featured Employers" and "Featured Jobs" advertising. Revenue generated from job postings goes directly to fund development of PMA FIT programs.

In addition to enhancing its Web site and job bank, the foundation is increasingly utilizing online social networking tools to stay connected to students, young professionals and members. For example, the foundation's Facebook page provides updates on foundation events, allowing those students who have participated to stay connected and share ideas long after the event is over.

"We are excited to better equip both the produce industry and the young talent who seek to work in our industry with the tools they will need to connect with one another," said Cindy Seel, executive director of the PMA Foundation for Industry Talent. "Utilizing the internet and social networking forums allows PMA FIT to stay ahead of the curve in helping the industry to attract, develop and retain talent."

PMA FIT is supported by contributions from companies who operate in all segments of the global produce supply chain. Major donors (those who have given over $250,000) include: Castellini Group of Companies; Georgia-Pacific; Jay and Ruth Pack Family Foundation; Mission Produce, Inc.; Paramount Farms; and Taylor Farms, Inc. PMA FIT was created to: educate bright, young talent about careers in produce; support the health of the industry by developing competent, skilled people adequately prepared for future leadership; and provide assistance to produce companies who want to create strong corporate cultures that encourage employee retention.
