PMA Education Foundation Golf Tournament to Benefit
Nucci Scholarship of Culinary Innovation
Newark, Del. – The Produce Marketing Association Education Foundation (PMAEF) will host a golf tournament Friday, July 13, 2007, benefiting the Nucci Scholarship of Culinary Innovation. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) 2007 Foodservice Conference & Exposition in Monterey, California.
Created in 2005 in memory of industry leader Joe Nucci of Mann Packing Company, the scholarship connects culinary students with foodservice and produce professionals.
"This experience is an ideal way to engage and teach the next generation of chefs and foodservice professionals innovative and flavorful ways to integrate produce," said Lorri Koster of Mann Packing Company, Inc. and sister of the late Joe Nucci.
The program, in its second year, provides students and faculty from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and Johnson & Wales University with a unique opportunity to learn about produce from respected produce and foodservice professionals. Each culinary student will be partnered with a produce industry professional who will serve as an industry advisor throughout the conference. The students and faculty will tour Mann Packing Company, Inc. and NewStar Fresh Foods, LLC, two leading grower-shipper processors for foodservice and retail operations. Additionally, six students will have the extraordinary experience of assisting Chef Anthony Bourdain and Chef Walter Scheib as sous chefs during the chef demos on Sunday, July 15, 2007 moderated by educator and consultant Chef Robert Danhi.
The 2007 golf tournament will take place at the Black Horse Golf Course on Friday, July 13, 2007. Registration ends June 29, 2007; the cost is $295 per person.
